At BAFTA, Margot Robbie Wins Floral Fashion Award in Chanel

In floral fashions, we checked out the 73rd annual British Academy Film Awards – known as BAFTAs.  This event – held at the Royal Albert Hall in London – not only is attended by Kate Middleton and Prince William – but also is the last gasp of important award shows before the Oscars on Sunday, February 9th.

So who were the winners for Flower Power Daily’s best floral fashions?  What we saw from most people was basic boring black without much inventiveness. But then the luminous Margot Robbie wore this Channel number that had such beautiful floral detailing on the sleeve that we had to smile.

The Channel Haute Couture team also dressed Lily-Rose Depp in a black outfit. The stylist was trying to be fashion-forward by choosing this Channel design but the fabric just didn’t resonate quality and that special something.

If you are going to have lace detailing, it can’t be something that looks you could have gotten at the Gap.

We particularly enjoyed Ella Balinska’s outfit for a young girl flaunting her fabulousness with flirty flowers that oozed exuberance.  The dress was designed by Giambattista Valli.

Although the Daily Mail panned it, we really liked it. But then again, we see the world through flowers. However, for practical reasons for different bodies and ages, we want to give a shout out to Cinderella Balthazar for her Joshua Kane outfit that could be worn anywhere with great style and confidence. This was not only an interesting design but a beautiful fabric.

Olivia Coleman played it safe with a pretty floral bodice on a black dress designed by Alexander McQueen. Actually we were surprised this was an Alexander McQueen dress but then on second look realized the draping of the dress has that fashion house’s signature. It was a bit boring but sensible and attractive.

And as far as drooling over a dress, we all sighed at observing Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, in her own Alexander McQueen design. The gold and ivory were delicate and just lovely. Definitely swoon-worthy and the modern touch of how the bodice had a strip of gold architecturally wrapped around the bosom elevated this dress to something so very special.

We were undecided about Lulu Wang’s outfit designed by Simone Rocha. It was fresh and interesting but definitely not figure-flattering.

What are your favorites for the BAFTA’s?

Can’t wait to see the Oscar fashions on Sunday and will reveal the floral fashion winners. After all, how these dresses perform with the public as a result of awards season impacts what gets designed in the future.
