Spread the love

The humble dandelion made news today.

The flower symbolizes happiness, joy and youthful thoughts as well as health, power, perseverance and determination.

After all, it grows in all conditions.

It became news when President Joe Biden reached down to the ground as he was preparing to leave the White House and gathered a simple dandelion for his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, who is truly a flower lover and often wears fab floral fashions.

The gesture was so sweet and shows that no act of kindness is ever wasted. The lesson here is that a token of love need not be a grand rose, but can be the humble dandelion.

This flowering plant also has many medicinal effects. Some falsely call it a stubborn weed that grows in your lawn though I love the bright pops of yellow.

In fact, for centuries, dandelions were used to heal many ailments including acne, liver disease, digestive disorders and yes, even cancer.

They are also loaded with vitamins and edible. Among the minerals it has are iron, calcium and potassium. They also aid blood sugar control, inflammation, reduce cholesterol and lowers blood pressure.

People in other countries actually dry the flower and even make tea out of it.

Since dandelions possess lots of antioxidants, they also get rid of or diminish radicals in the body that contributes to disease.

But for now, we’re happy that President Joe Biden’s simple gesture of love brought attention to the humble dandelion so more people can become aware of this wonderful flower.
