Of course, florists interpreting paintings and sculptures that exist in museums have become a big fundraiser opportunity and crowd favorite. Arts institutions around the country are doing this in North Carolina, Boston, Oregon, and elsewhere. This California exhibition at the de Young Museum always has a modern twist since each region has its own floral flavor. This marks its 39th year of creating this beloved Bay Area event in which over 100 florists participate.
According to the museum, $680,000 was raised at the opening night this month and more than $1,500,000 during the entire week. The funds will help both education departments and conservation efforts. After all, doesn’t exquisite botany remind us to take care of nature?
As added catnip, CCSF floral fashion students used flowers to spark smiles and creativity.
Enjoy the interpretations from these talented florists and tell us your favorite on our flowerpowerdaily_ Instagram. We will also be mentioning your favorites on our TV show.
