In the newest edition of People Magazine, country music star Blake Shelton confesses that since marrying Gwen Stefani in 2021, he has “shelled out a small fortune on flower seeds.”
In the story, the musical couple reveals how they have grown multiple gardens’ worth of zinnias and sunflowers, and the Icelandic lilies are still a work in progress.
“We go way over-the-top,” Shelton — whose new game show, Barmageddon, premiered Monday night on USA Network — tells PEOPLE exclusively in this week’s cover story. “It’s embarrassing how much we spend on seeds. Besides music, gardening has been our biggest bonding activity.”
In another interview he shared how working in the garden was “a lot of stuff that you dream about doing that you never have time to do.” And now he has. He planted thousands of zinnias among other flowers.
How wonderful. The couple is like many who have found the pleasures of gardening. In fact, post-pandemic, there are now 20 million new gardeners and it turns out, they are one of them.
Plus, as we see, Blake also likes to give his wife flowers as an I love you gift filled with anemones and tangerine orange roses that look like the Free Spirit variety that so reflects this couple’s charms.
