Announcing its Color of the Year 2022 – October Mist 1495, the folks at Benjamin Moore explained that the color selection is “evocative of the stem of a flower.”

No surprise that a shade of green was chosen this year since bringing the garden inside and the restorative aspects of nature is trending everywhere. Since the pandemic, there have been almost 20 million new gardeners. Furthermore, the love of houseplants has been raging as its health benefits are proven by science.

Andrea Magno, director of Benjamin Moore’s color marketing and development, flipped through 3500 paint chips and gauged the zeitgeist to determine October Mist is the color of 2022.  “This gently shaded sage anchors and uplifts,” she explained.

This soothing shade could complement anything from kitchen cabinets for a slightly retro look or create a cozy bedroom vibe. It’s the perfect color for hallways to segue way into different colors.

After all, the stems of flowers prop up every rainbow of color – pinks, purples, yellows and blues.

In fact, that’s why we are showcasing some of Iris Blossom’s work to show you all the possibilities. The stems of flowers are launching pads for such beauty and this was a wise choice from Benjamin Moore.
