This year, it wasn’t a garden of blooming flowers on the dresses for the Met Gala 2022 which had the theme of the Gilded Age.
What instead was a nice touch was how flowers were accessories on many of the fashions.
Vogue’s fashions were all presented for the world to see and appreciate since editor Anna Wintour leads this fundraising gala. And like every0one else, we are looking at it all but through the prism of flowers.
Yes, Sarah Jessica Parker knows how to be dramatic but she also chose a pink flower for her headpiece which added color and femininity to the overall look.
Some of our favorites were how Mama Musk. – a.k.a. Maye Musk – has long strands of pearls with a beautiful ruby floral broach. So retro but glam at the same time. Certainly very much of the theme of the evening.
Jessica Chastain also had a beautiful broach pinned to her hat.
Gabrielle Union in Vercase had a big floral fabric rose that made her outfit.
As did singer Billie Ellish who looked lovely.
Another winner we thought was Claire Danes. The soft ivory silk with lace detailing was charming and was designed by Lanvin.
Gwen Stefani in Vera Wang had a chartreuse electric gown with a floral flourish.
Lizzo’s cape by Thom Browne was fab. She really sparkles.
Glenn Close’s Valentino cape had floral motifs that were pretty.
Katy Perry’s Oscar de la Renta has floral lace in it.
And don’t you like how Mindy Kaling wore purple with floral details on her shoulders?
We also liked the dress of Tracey Collins who was with NYC Mayor Eric Adams.
All of these others were also nice additions to the floral party for the Met gala.
Let us know your faves on our Instagram. But it turns out that most are oohing and ahhing over Taylor Hill’s sapphire silk dress designed by Miss Sohee. Oh my. How gorge. The bodice has stunning floral silk flowers and the coup de gras is the floral embroidered cape. Now that girl knows how to make an entrance and use fashion to uplift her brand.
