Princess Kate Donates Special Rose to Help Cancer Patients

Princess Catherine of Wales has a new rose inspired by her.  Called “Catherine’s Rose,” the sales of this special rose will benefit cancer patients. And oh what what a rose it is.

The Royal Horticultural Society, which runs the famed Chelsea Flower Show in London, unveiled the salmon-pink toned rose this week.  Bred by Harkness Roses, the flower celebrates Princess Kate’s efforts to link improved health to being in the garden.

The flower seems to know that it needs exquisite beauty to boost sales for such a good cause.

Since being diagnosed with cancer in 2024, and now cancer free, Princess Catherine has educated the public on the healing power of nature.

“I know the power of nature to support our development and wellbeing, both by bringing us joy and helping to keep us physically, mentally and spiritually healthy,” she said in a much-watched video. 

No surprise that ‘Catherine’s Rose’ has an elegance just like the woman who inspired it.

The details are the following: The rose is a stunning floribunda, has subtle coral-pink blooms, oodles of petals and a rich perfume with hints of Turkish Delight and mango. It can multi-task and will thrive in a mixed border, as a hedge, in a large container or in a rose bed.

Profits  will benefit The Royal Marsden in England.

“Every rose sold will help The Royal Marsden establish a unique training program for clinical teams across the country in rehabilitation techniques which make such a difference to patient care,” noted Dame Cally Palmer, Chief Executive, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.

Clare Matterson, RHS Director General, said: “As well as supporting the incredible work of The Royal Marsden, Catherine’s Rose will raise awareness of how nature and gardening can help to heal.  We know how important this message is as every day we see how accessing nature and being outside is vital for our health and happiness.”
