Oscar Flower Fashions 2022- Who Dazzled and Wins the FPD Prize?

Spread the love

As Elle Magazine’s  Lauren Puckett-Pope pointed out, everyone at the Oscars made an extra effort to be more glamorous. Unlike some other past award shows, the Oscar Awards 2022 was a runway show of truly breathtaking dresses that are both memorable and enduring.

Okay flower lovers, here were some highlights.

Top 10 Winners of FPD BEST FLORAL DESIGNS 2022

Jessica Chastain not only won the Oscar for Best Actress but for blending colors magnificently in this Gucci dress. The copper caramel bodice and the flowing lilac – which was a popular color as was pink this season. Just loved the dreaminess and elegance of this dress.

Demi Singleton also wore lilac in this understated Miu Miu dress that could be great for proms, bridesmaids or even mother of the bride. Such a multi-generational dress that could be worn year after year. The color complements anyone and reminds me of delicate fragrant lilacs.

Director Maggie Gyllenhaal opted for an architectural ensemble that was softened by the addition of applique flowers. This was a Schiaparelli dress and really hit all the right notes for her personality. That’s key, isn’t it? Wear something that speaks about who you are and that balance creates magic.

Lily James wore this Atelier Versace and was young and fun in a lovely peony pink color. The dress was designed by Atelier Versace.

Zuri Hall also opted for pink which was a good choice. The rippling swirling flowers just created a cloud of joy.

Saniyya Sidney had one of our favorite dresses. This eggshell elegant dress with the soft pastel flowers was just so lovely and happy. What a stand-out dress.

Serena Williams scored with this Gucci dress that was bold but again softened by the applique flowers. That is what flowers do. Soften and elevate any experience including fashion.

Kirsten Durst in her Christian Lacroix was old-world glamour. Just loved the ruffles in this Christian Lacroix dress and the cherry tomato color really complimented her coloring.

Lupita Nyong’o has the pressure each season because she has been anointed a fashion trendsetter. This shimmering Prada dress didn’t disappoint and the pale pink flowers on the gold was pitch-perfect and memorable.

And last but not least, the English Rose who never disappoints. Director Sophie Hunter, who happens to be married to Benedict Cumberbatch, – lucky guy – flows into any arena with style, grace and intelligence.  She is a goddess in her floral design choices and we just adore everything about her. Her Grecian-inspired dress had subtle – that is her trademark – botanical images on the flowing fabric but it was the shoulder embellishment that stood out. On one side, delicate wispy straps created an architectural statement that made it modern but not in a bold “look at me” declaration. So comfortable in her own skin, she doesn’t scream for attention but attracts it like a bee to a flower, confident in her subtle beauty, modernity and charm.

Honorable Mention: Since men are also embracing flowers to elevate their individual style, here’s a shout-out to David Oyelowo for this gold and black floral ensemble.

With all the breasts spilling out in excess, happy to have seen class vs. crass and more elegant choices win raves and rewards at this celebration and possibly root more for fashion trends throughout the year. On our Instagram, we will ask you, beloved readers, what was your favorite for the FPD prize.
